codanomiq · Assets

Every picture the site uses, in one place.

Drag files in and they are optimised on the way. Every image carries its alt text, its caption and the part of it that must not be cropped, and those travel with it wherever it is used.

What the tool does

In the admin as · Assets
01

Upload by dragging

Drop files anywhere on the zone and they land in the current folder.

02

Optimised as they arrive

A needlessly large photograph straight off a camera is the most common reason a site feels slow. Images are resized and compressed on upload, so the original never reaches a visitor.

03

Alt text

Every image carries a sentence describing what is in it. It is the same field the gallery uses, so writing it once serves the page and the screen reader both.

04

Caption and focal point

A photograph also carries its caption and the part of it that must not be cropped, so a wide crop on one page and a square on another both keep the subject.

05

Folders, search and batches

Folders and subfolders, renamed in place. Search finds an asset by name across all of them. Select several and act on them together.

06

Deletion is soft

Assets go to the Trash, where they can be restored. Destroying is separate, deliberate, and removes the file from disk.

01

The commonest cause of a slow site, handled on the way in

Nobody uploads a 12MB photograph on purpose. They upload what the camera gave them, because nothing stopped them, and the page takes six seconds on a phone.

Optimising on upload means the person adding the picture does not have to know or care, and the site cannot slowly fill up with originals.

02

Alt text is a field, not an afterthought

The description written on the asset is the alt text everywhere that asset appears. It is not re-entered per page and cannot be forgotten per page, which is how sites end up with an accessibility audit full of empty alt attributes.

Pictures with their facts attached.

Alt text, captions and crop safety belong to the image, not to the page. That is why they are still right two redesigns later. Get in touch →
